Learn Appeal is the eLearning industry charity. What do we mean by that? As an industry we are passionate about learning and believe that to enable people to really make the most of their lives, they need access to learning. This charity was formed by representatives of the Elearning Industry who share this vision.
Key to what we do is inclusivity and this applies to both those we want to support and also those that support Learn Appeal. So whether you work for a vendor or a large corporate; whether you are freelance, work in education or just believe that technology supported learning can and will make a difference, we need your help!
We are now supporting some amazing projects in the UK and overseas. Now is your opportunity to help us support them! To get involved please contact us.
Jonathan Satchell, Chief Executive, Learning Technologies Group (Chair of Trustees)
Jonathan started his first business in 1992 selling subscriptions for Accountancy TV, a CPD content company. After successfully converting a management training video provider into an e-learning business, Jonathan became the interim MD of bespoke e-learning company Epic in 2007. The following year, he purchased the company in partnership with Andrew Brode, where he remains Chief Executive to this day, and is also Chief Executive of Learning Technologies Group plc. Jonathan is an experienced business leader with a passion for technology and learning.
He founded the charity Learn Appeal to harness the creative efforts and fundraising power of the e-learning industry to support learning related projects in the UK and beyond.
Sarah Smith, Managing Director, Walkgrove Ltd (Trustee)
Sarah spent her early public sector career in various management posts, mainly within the HR function. Her final post with British Coal was Manager of their multi-award winning Learning Resource Unit, established to support decentralisation of training by delivering flexible training interventions. She is now Managing Director of Walkgrove, specialising in the development and delivery of mainly bespoke training, including e-learning.
Sitting on the charity board she is committed to education and believes it should be a right; not a privilege. She supports many charities in a ‘hands-off’ way, so was delighted to offer her support to Learn Appeal in a more ‘hands-on’ capacity.
Asi DeGani, Senior Manager, Digital Design, Platforms Transformation (Group) BT (Trustee)
Asi Started his career in the learning technologies industry in 1990 by defining ways in which the emerging media rich technologies could bring training to life. Since then he has worked with research and standardisation bodies (including European research projects and the ADL) which has contributed to advancements in the field.
Asi focuses on empowering people to embrace the concept and practice of life long learning in all aspects of their lives. Learn Appeal is close to his professional conviction and supports his personal passion for learning.
Genny Dixon (Trustee)
Genny is a very experienced project and research manager who has a background in both education and qualifications reform. Genny had long career in helping and supporting those who have internet access make the best use of it. When she ‘retired’ from Towards Maturity, Genny decided it is an ideal opportunity to devote her time to help and support those who don’t have internet access but still desperately need access to learning. Genny believes the offline solution Learn Appeal can offer disconnected and disadvantaged communities has huge potential and is looking forward to help them improve their life chances and opportunities.
Andy Moss, Managing Director, Corporate Learning, City and Guilds Group (Trustee)
Andy’s career in education and training spans more than 30 countries around the world, through his time running Pearson Plc’s ‘Venture’ markets, and now as Managing Director of City & Guilds Corporate Learning division. Throughout that time Andy’s passion has been the transformative power of education and training – to truly change lives for the better – and how, through the effective use of technology, we can open this opportunity for all.
Sitting on the Board of Learn Appeal, Andy is deeply committed to our mission – that everybody has the right to learn – and to all of our programmes in support of that mission.
