We are delighted to celebrate the success of Dr Ebony Escalona at this years RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) awards last week where she was the recipient of their Inspiration Award. Ebony was recognised for her work as a veterinary advisor at the Brooke equine charity, as the founding member of the Vets: Stay, Go, Diversify Facebook group which encourages veterinary surgeons to share their experiences and ideas, and for her involvement in the Learn Appeal Project which provides basic veterinary, farriery and husbandry knowledge to rural communities without access to internet connections.
Ebony says, “No matter how skilled the trainer, lack of internet and mains electricity are a very real hurdle in getting audiences to have the ‘lightbulb moment’ needed to really grasp new skills of this nature. The Learn Appeal Capsule has provided the means to generate and deliver the sort of teaching resources that we believe can really make a difference.”
We are absolutely delighted that Ebony and the rest of the team at the Brooke have been able use the Learn Appeal Capsule in such an innovative way. Read more about the award on Learning News
